 Welcome to the opera!  From its inception in 1996, Opera Fresca has demonstrated a strong, unparalled commitment to fulfilling out mission to make opera accessible to a wide audience at a high level of artistry and performance. Much of the success of Opera Fresca’s distinctive and unique style is the remarkable result of wonderful voices, chamber orchestra, world-class musical and artistic direction, and the generosity and support of our creative, caring coastal community. We thank all of you! 

Now, as we present our tenth season, we can be proud of all we have accomplished in these ten years. Together, through our dedicated efforts, we have achieved tremendous growth and success. Opera Fresca is increasingly recognized as tracking the future of the arts on the Mendocino Coast. As Artistic/General Director, I am committed to an infinite vision for Opera Fresca, continually expanding the horizons of our knowledge, our talents and our skills. I am committed to ensuring that Opera Fresca develops the kind of stamina and character necessary to achieve our goals. Success in any worthwhile endeavor is a marathon, not a sprint!

To that end, we have expanded our Opera Access Educational Outreach Program to include live performance presentations in Mendocino County Schools, and the offering of Opera Access tickets to Sonoma County Schools. Our new Emerging Artists Program, with the assistance of Opera America’s Music! Words! Opera! Program, will be presenting opera workshops featuring national opera educators, Elizabeth Vrenios and Richard Crittenden, who has recently been recognized as the leading Goldovsky educator. These workshops will be made available to young singers from all over the country.

Since 1997, College of the Redwoods, Mendocino Coast, has generously sponsored our annual opera production classes. Opera Fresca now performs our mainstage productions in the Center Theater at Mendocino College, Ukiah.

In these uncertain times, Opera Fresca continues to lead with heart, to inspire and to nurture the spirit of joy and vitality that we are privileged to enjoy here on the Mendocino Coast. Opera Fresca has consistently challenged our prior accomplishments with new directions, and new definitions. Opera Fresca clearly speaks to a new definition of our shared strengths.

I wish to express my profound thanks to everyone who has collaborated on this production. They are truly a world-class team. It has been, and continues to be, not just my passion, but my privilege to work with all of them.

Theatrical excellance since 1977. Located in the village of Mendocino, the Mendocino Theatre Company has been producing high quality theatre for 30 years. The Company performs in the intimate 88 seat Mendocino Theatre, producing a variety of plays ranging from great literary classics to modern comedies and from much performed chestnuts to original dramas.

This year they have transformed there season schedule to offer an exciting array of shows to compliment there regular mainstage productions. They will be having extra productions in between there mainstage productions. They have organized and exciting array of smaller, more streamlined productions for our enjoyment. They will also be holding benefit productions and will be starting new in 2007 Jumpstart! Young People’s Theatre summer productions and also the theatre will be one of the Mendocino Film Festival’s movie venues.

My husband and I traveled Northern California early Sept. 2006. One of our stops was Stevenwood. We were very impressed with our visit. Our room was cozy, comfortable and relaxing. The fireplace along with the views were an extra bonus. The staff was very helpful with all our needs. Our experience dinning was fantastic. The food was wonderful, much more then we expected. We requested a picnic lunch for our departure so we could stop along the way to enjoy all the beautiful views of the coast and we were more then happy with what they prepared for us. THe bonus was the wine that came with our lunch! I have stayed in many lovely places over the years and I would love to stay at Stevenwood again.

My husband and I stayed at Stevenswood only for 1 night as getaway from the Bay Area (they have amazing deals for last minute stays on their website - you can pick the deal and reserve online - we received 50% off).

The hotel was lovely (outside and in) and they did a good job of keeping everything updated. The rooms were huge and very modern. I really liked the wine at check in and the nice breakfast with great French pressed coffee (all included in your room fee). They also provided very nice toilettes.

We enjoyed the trails to the bluffs and also liked being a few miles from downtown Mendocino (much quieter to stay away from downtown). The hot tub was also a nice treat at the end of our day. I was concerned the rooms may be loud with wood floors everywhere - but we did not hear a thing all night.

The staff went out of their way to cater to needs.

My husband and I just spent a long weekend at Stevenswood and it was fantastic. The staff was extremely nice and accomodating, the breakfast was excellent and the beds are absolutely heavenly. Free wireless Internet and free long-distance phone calls were also an added plus. Housekeeping paid extra attention to detail. The rooms have beautiful views (even the ones that are not ocean views). The bathrooms have beautiful glass sinks, there is not much space to put tolietries but they plan to install more shelving. The property has a small fitness room with 3 cardio machines, it is certainly not a full service gym but it gives you the opportunity to get in a quick workout. I believe they also have arrangements with local gyms should you require more. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to have dinner in the resturant which I understand is absolutely outstanding. This is a first rate place, and I would definitely return. We absolutely love the North Coast and we loved Stevenswood as well.  Sep 11, 2006  barl16, Anguilla, West Indies

This hotel offers everything you could want. Luxery, great service, amentities, brethtaking views and beautiful grounds w/ wildflowers growing everywhere, and superb dining.
The hotel staff goes above and beyond. Also the the room was spotless clean w/ really great tolleteries. So many amentities!
