7th Annual Heritage Days of Mendocino County

This is a county wide event from April 31 – May 31. There will be ongoing events and exhibits such as the Kwan Tai Temple built in 1854 open house. This is the oldest Chinese temple in use on the north coast of California and designated historical landmark #927. Mendocino County Museum exhibits, The Marine Room at the Guest House Museum, Model Yachts and Toy Boats Display at the Kelley House Museum, Tour of Held-Poage Research Library (Ukiah) and Tours of Mendocino National Historic Preservation District at the Kelley House Museum.   • Robert Becker: Former college English teacher, with U C Berkeley Ph. D., business man, consulting grant and promotional writing, along with Venture Capitol Investments.
  • Jeff Bruning: Long time resident and retired physician.
  • Betty Carr: worked as a teachers aid for 21 years.
  • David Foucheaux: Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Fort Bragg Mendocino Coast Historical Society.
  • Louis Hough: Maritime historian.
  • Marianne Hurley: District historian. Her field work draws on her background and expertise in American Architectural History and Historic Preservation.
  • Marie Jones: Is the Community Development Director for the city of Fort Bragg.
  • John Mott: Has served as the Cooperating Associations Program Manager for California State Parks headquarters in Sacramento since 1996.
  • Martin Simpson: Has served on the Board of Directors of Kelley House for 7 years and also serves as a member of the Archives Committee where his responsibilities include Collections Management, accessing artifacts, document and photographs and historical research.
  • Denise Stenberg: Born in Fort Bragg and has been active in the Fort Bragg Mendocino Coast Historical Society since 1999.
  • Mike Stenberg: Graduated Fort Bragg High in 1970. He also worked for the Fort Bragg Lumber Company before settling into the auto repair business for 35 years. He also is involved in the Fort Bragg Mendocino Coast Historical Society for 10 years.
  • Katy Tahja: A retired librarian, and a longtime docent at the Kelley House Museum. She is the author on many books on local history.
