Two weeks ago, the 29th Annual Winesong raised over a half a million dollars with proceeds going to The Mendocino Coast Foundation. This very important fundraiser is the biggest event on the Mendocino coast and benefits the Mendocino Coast District Hospital.
This years Winesong 2013 started on Friday, September 6, with a sold-out crowd for the insider’s view of spectacular Anderson Valley Pinot Noir’s at “Winesong and Anderson Valleys Winegrowers Association Pinot Noir Celebration” hosted by the Little River Inn. This year there was about 20 wineries which included two of the favorite wineries, Goldeneye and Handley Cellars pouring to a crowd of happy Pinot Noir lovers.
Then on Saturday of the giant event with over 1,200 guests that strolled through and participated at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens enjoyed food and wine from many winemaking regions. This year there were more than 50 restaurants and food purveyors from Northern California which provided a superb variety of culinary fare. There were also performances of acoustic music ensembles throughout the gardens to make this a fun and very entertaining event.
This year’s “fund a need” lot – specifically to be used to purchase a new ambulance which brought in $116,000 in a matter of minutes! Also the original 2013, Winesong Art of the Year was an acrylic on canvas piece called “The Tipping Point” from artist Laura Pope that sold for a record-breaking $8,200.
Next years event will mark Winesong’s 30th year. The dates for this 2014 event will be on September 5, 6, 2014.
