Parade in downtown Main Street, Elk
The 38th Annual Great Day in Elk is the end of summer community celebration. This event will be held on Saturday, August 18 from noon to 1:00 am at the Greenwood Community Center in downtown Elk. The festivities start with a parade through downtown Elk, followed by activities for all ages at the Greenwood Community Center.
Enjoy the Elk carnival with games and prizes. There will be live entertainment, and everyone loves and cheers participants for the grease pole climbing contest which offers a $100 to the winner. In additon there will be a watermelon eating contest, silent auction, and cake raffle, belly dancing, fortunetelling, and much more.
The food throughout the afternoon offers oysters & chicken caesar salad, soup, facaccia bread, hot dogs & sweet homemade goodies. The in the late afternoon/evening there will be a dinner barbeque from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Enjoy cornish game hen with all the trimmings and there will also be a vegetarian option available to.
Then that evening from 7:00 pm – 1:00 am there will be dancing with three great DJ’s. There will be a bar open all evening and admission will be at the door.
