The Mendocino Film Festival Take 7 will be held this year on June 1-3, 2012. If you have been at past Mendocino Film Festivals you know that the location here on the north coast of California in Mendocino is one of the most beautiful places on earth. As Jim McCullough (San Francisco Film Commissioner) said “The Mendocino Film Festival has an image which is small town and charming while being at the same time world class and progressive. I’m very proud to be part of it”. Or the comments of Jed Riffe (Filmmaker) said “After having screened my films at over 45 film festivals around the world, I can attest that the Mendocino Film Festival is one of the best festivals anywhere”.
Kickoff Party at the MacCallum House Restaurant and Bar! Wednesday, May 23, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. With only a week in a half to go before the festival, the excitement is mounting. The Kickoff Party will include Festival Volunteers, Friends, Programmers, Board of Directors, and Staff are all working hard to bring independent film-lovers the best festival ever! Let’s celebrate together at the bar for drinks, casual cafe dining in the beautiful atrium, or with a full gourmet dinner in the dining room. Opening Party & Screening. Friends of the Festival members are invited to kick-off the 7th Annual Mendocino Film Festival, Friday June 1, at 5:00 pm, at Crown Hall, Mendocino. Meet our talented filmmakers over hors d’oeuvres and enjoy wines from Patianna, Jeriko and Goldeneye wines and also Blue Vodka cocktails and brews from the North Coast Brewing Company. Albert Maysles Award for Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking will be awarded at the showing at Crown Hall on Saturday, June 2 at 3:00 pm. Albert Maysles who is widely revered as the “Dean of Documentary of Filmmaking” joined as our special guest and advisor in 2007. This year he will honor director Ralph Arlyck with the annual Albert Maysles Award for Excellance in Documentary Filmmaking. Come join in for this special conversation and screening of this classic film “Following Sean”.
New this year! In addition to Crown Hall in Mendocino, The Mendocino Film Festival is proud to announce two new venues in 2012. The Arena Theater in Point Arena located at 214 Main Street, Point Arena and the Coast Cinemas in Fort Bragg located at 135 South Franklin Street, Fort Bragg.
