This place is fantastic. It is absolutely gorgeous, set off in the redwoods a few miles out of town. Do not come here if you want to be right in the town of Mendocino and near bars. Do come here if you want a peaceful respite with great hospitality, a delicious restaurant, and a gorgeous garden and ocean view. We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms with a canyon view/view of the parking lot. Even with a view of the parking lot, it was still beautiful. We needed only to walk outside onto the deck to see a view of the ocean and the cute garden, and then a bit farther to go into van damme state park. Mendocino is so gorgeous – tons of hiking trails, canoeing, redwoods, mushrooms, and the town is so cute and charming! My boyfriend and I came for new years and we had a fabulous time. The room is huge, the temperapedic bed is super comfortable, and has a flat screen tv with dvd player. The resort has only 10 bedrooms, so it is very intimate, and everyone was quite friendly. There is a spa if you want to pay extra for treatments (we didn’t), the restaurant is really really good but quite expensive, and there is a hot tub, small gym and 2 person steam room. The people who work there were all great. I don’t know what everyone is complaining about – honestly, some people just like to complain. The customer service was great – they gave a really thorough tour when we first got there and were definitely aiming to please. I still don’t really get what the extra $25 spa charge a night is for, but the place was so relaxing and fantastic that I don’t really care. Take some of these reviews with a grain of salt – people love to complain and are really just plain damn rude. What is wrong with everyone who wrote a bad review? this place is truly fantastic. However, only come if you are looking for a peaceful get away, a romantic weekend, or some time in the woods. If you are expecting to be right next to the bars downtown then this place is not for you. It is not right in town and requires a drive. I loved that about it, but some may not. I had a great hike in Van Damme State park and then a fantastic view of the sunset along the Mendocino headlands. Overall exquisite! Here’s a tip if you want to save $$ – book last minute! Our second night was only $99! Maybe they treat you better if you are not a living social deal or group on deal. We got great service and probably paid less than the deals simply because we only booked 2 nights in advance.
