We got the Coombs room which had a little seating area and a King size Tempuredic bed with tons of pillows. There was also a fireplace and coffee and cappuccino maker. A small about 21-inch flat-screen TV with DVD player was in a little carved-out area on the upper part of the wall where we could watch TV from our bed. Oh, on check-in, they were serving free wine and olive oil testing but also offered a free bottle of wine of our choice (I chose the pinot grigio) that I took back to our room and we had that evening.
We slept well overall. Could hear some noise in the room above us.
Nelson, the concierge, was very nice and did whatever it took to make our stay pleasant and was very accommodating. I as well was concerned after reading the other reviews but everyone I spoke seemed interested in making sure our stay was as pleasant as possible.
Directly across the road from Stevenswood there is gate with an entrance to a trail that leads to the beach – the walk is about 12 minutes or so but muddy so be prepared. Once you get to the beach, there is a bench that overlooks the ocean – it’s wonderful and highly recommend it. We were advised to take the trail directly to the beach but then at the end, branch off and follow the trail on the left – this led us to an even more stunning view of steep cliffs.
Breakfast: nice seating area. Tasty breakfast. The scone that came with my breakfast was smaller than a ‘petite’ scone at Starbucks so it was pretty small but still flavorful.
Great place to stay and would recommend this place to others. Whatever previous issues they had regarding customer service, from my experience this past weekend, appears to have been ameliorated.
