We live in the Bay Area and have been to Mendocino many times, but this was the most luxurious hotel we’d stayed at in a long time. It’s located in Little River just a few miles south of the town of Mendocino, and set back from Highway 1 so that the only noise you hear is the whispering of the wind in the trees. The rooms are well-appointed and so spacious (bedroom, salon area and entry hall) that you feel like you’re staying in a nice home rather than a hotel room. There’s a lovely glimpse of the ocean from the upstairs back decks, surrounded by trees, and full of calm and quiet. The hot tub and sauna were a pleasure, and my wife took advantage of a Swedish massage from a menu that looked very complete.
